Audi Q7 (2015 on) ZF 8HP tiptronic gearbox oil change — Milton Keynes
The second-generation Audi Q7 (4M) uses a ZF 8HP — Audi calls it the eight-speed tiptronic. It is a torque-converter gearbox, not an S tronic, and it takes the same pan, fluid exchange and adaptation reset as any 8HP.
From £399, priced to your car. Get a price first — send the registration and we confirm the gearbox.
Which Audi Q7 cars have the ZF 8HP
Gearbox versions are as published by the car maker, ZF and the sources below. We confirm your car's exact gearbox from its VIN before ordering parts.
What to know about the 8HP in a Audi Q7
- Audi lists the Q7's gearbox as an 8-speed tiptronic with a hydraulic torque converter and lock-up clutch — the ZF 8HP, not a dual-clutch S tronic.[1, 2]
- The first-generation Q7 (to 2015) is a different gearbox — an Aisin six-speed and later an Aisin eight-speed — so this page is for the 2015-on 4M.[1]
- ZF's oil change kit table lists the 8HP65 A for Audi, filled with ZF LifeguardFluid 8.[4]

Questions we get asked
Is the Audi Q7 tiptronic a ZF gearbox?
On the 2015-on Q7 (4M), yes: Audi's eight-speed tiptronic is the ZF 8HP, a torque-converter automatic. The first-generation Q7 used Aisin gearboxes instead. Send us your registration and we will confirm which your car has.
Is it the same as a DSG or S tronic service?
No. The S tronic is a dual-clutch gearbox with a different fluid and procedure (see our VAG and DSG page). The Q7's tiptronic is an 8HP: new pan and filter, ZF-specified fluid, a dynamic fluid exchange and an adaptation reset.
Do the A6 and A8 have the same gearbox?
Some do. The larger-engined A6, A7 and A8 use the tiptronic 8HP, while many four-cylinder Audis use the S tronic. Send us the registration and we will check.
How much is a ZF 8HP gearbox service on a Audi Q7?
From £399, priced to your car. The price moves with which 8HP version it has, the pan and filter part and how much has to come off to reach it. Give us your registration and we confirm a fixed price in writing before we start.
